Brian Zembic – Early Days

Brian Zembic was born in Winnipeg, in Manitoba, Canada, in 1961. Apart from being a blackjack player, he is also an amateur magician and plays backgammon as well. A man with a sense of ‘adventure’, Zembic usually doesn’t turn down a bet, no matter how bizarre or strange it may be. That is very apparent from Zembic’s ‘breast implant’ bet: many have applauded him for it, there have been others who have called him insane, but at the end of the day he did take up that crazy dare and walked away with $100,000, the amount at stake. Brian Zembic – The Breast Implant Bet

The breast implant bet took root in the year 1996, when Brian Zembic was talking with another friend, now called Jobo, about how much a woman would do to attract a man. When Zembic remarked that having breast implants was probably one of the things to do, Jobo promptly challenged him to have breast implants done, in return for which he would receive $100,000. Instead of recoiling in disgust or horror, Zembic jumped right in

Initially, though the duo went over the details, neither of them took the whole thing seriously. As per the bet, Zembic had to wear implanted 38C size breasts for a period of one year. He would also bear the cost of the surgical procedure involved and Jobo would keep the money in an escrow account until Zembic had fulfilled the conditions of the bet. These, then, were the basic terms, and the two would have a laugh about it every now and then.

However, in the same year, Jobo gave some financial advice to Zembic that resulted in him investing $125,000 of his savings into a particular stock. Jobo, in the meantime, sold all his shares, and soon the stock nosedived and Zembic lost about $30,000 within a single week. Angry about the whole thing, he decided to take the bet up seriously as a way of recovering his money

When Jobo protested, saying the bet was not on because too much time had passed since the initial period when they made the bet, the two asked a panel of gamblers to act as a tribunal and look into the matter. Sitting in a Chinese restaurant in Vegas, it took the tribunal just five minutes to rule in favor of Zembic, and the famous bet was on.

Zembic had the procedure done in October that year, and went on to wear them for a long period of time. He made an appearance in The Man Show, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla, to show off his breasts, and accepted $100 from Jimmy Kimmel. The incident became so famous that Michael Konik actually wrote a book about it, titled The Man With The $100,000 Breasts.

Brian Zembic – Living in the Bathroom

When it is Brian Zembic we are talking about, no bet is safe. When on The Man Show, he recounted another strange bet that his friends had made with him, with regrets later, of course. There was a time, apparently, when a group of friends made a $15,000 wager with him on the possibility of living in a bathroom for a one-month time period. Zembic accepted the offer with ease and went on to try and live out of a bathroom for 30 days. His friends were aghast that he could actually do this and seemed so at ease while staying there. Four days into the bet, his friends offered him $7,000 instead to buy him out.
